I used a 100 watt silver tipped bulb so as to provide indirect light and so one would not have the problem of looking directly at the light bulb. The picture shown in the ad shows the entire pendant light lit up. However, this was not true, and only about one- third of the top lit up.
I purchased a bulb extender, but even with a 100 watt bulb, only 1/2 of the upper part of the globe lit up and it diid not provide sufficient light.
I am now awaiting delivery of a very specialized extra large diameter silver tipped bulb which I hope will solve the problem of proper lighting of the globe.
Using a regular bulb in this pendant fixture would require you to actually see the bulb when near the center of it - which is not a good idea visually. Use of a silver tipped bulb is what makes the most sense to provide indirect lighting.
