I ordered a different lamp before this one and found it to be cheesy looking and cheap. I was very pleased with the classic look of this one (I ordered the dark bronze version). The shade looks high end and the thing is built like a tank, it should last forever. The swing arm works smoothly, allowing me to pull it close to use it as a reading lamp or push it away and let it light the whole room. I'm too old for dorm room furniture--I wanted something solid that would last at a reasonable price, and this was it.
